Privacy Policy

Bub (“Bub”, “we”, “us”) is a free Chrome extension and companion web app that adds voice notes, native video, AI rewrite, and saved snippets inside LinkedIn’s message composer. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email tirth@heybub.so.

What we collect

• Account details. When you create an account, we store your email and name (and, if you add one, your avatar) to sign you in and personalize the app.
• Usage events. When you send a voice note or video, use AI rewrite, or expand a snippet, we record the action, a timestamp, and the workspace it belongs to. This powers your XP, level, streak, and stats. We do not record the words in your messages or the audio/video of your recordings.
• AI rewrite text. When you ask Bub to rewrite a draft, that draft text is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the improved version and returned to you. We don’t store the draft after the request completes.
• Camera & microphone. Used only in your browser to create a recording. The finished recording is inserted directly into LinkedIn by you. Bub does not upload, host, or store your recordings.
• Anonymous device identifier. If you use Bub before signing in, we keep a random identifier in your browser to apply free-usage limits. It isn’t tied to your identity.
• Basic technical data. To keep the service reliable and prevent abuse we process limited request metadata (for example, a hashed form of your IP address for rate limiting). We do not store raw IP addresses.

How we use it

• To provide and improve the tools inside your LinkedIn composer.
• To run gamification (XP, levels, streaks) and show you your stats.
• To generate AI rewrites you request.
• To secure the service, enforce usage limits, and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal data, and we don’t use your content to train AI models. Anthropic processes rewrite requests under its API terms and does not use API inputs to train its models.

Who we share it with

• Supabase — our database and authentication host, which stores your account and usage data on our behalf.
• Anthropic — processes the draft text you submit for AI rewrite.
• LinkedIn — where you choose to send your notes, videos, and messages. Your use of LinkedIn is governed by LinkedIn’s own terms and privacy policy. Bub is not affiliated with or endorsed by LinkedIn.

We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect the service and its users.

Retention

We keep account and usage data while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing tirth@heybub.so. Some records may be retained where required for legal or security reasons.

Your choices & rights

• Access, correct, or delete your data by contacting us.
• Revoke camera/microphone access at any time in your browser settings.
• Uninstall the extension to stop all local processing.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example under GDPR or the CCPA). Contact us to exercise them.

Cookies

The web app uses strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising cookies.

Children

Bub is for professional use and is not intended for anyone under 18.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
